The new Lapland Collection brings the distinctive features of Lapland to holiday home architecture
Contrary to the national trend, construction in Lapland is recovering, but at the same time, plots, intended uses, and customer preferences are more varied than ever. Domestic and international tourism, year-round use, and interest in high-quality holiday construction are creating strong demand in the region.
– There is a lot of growth in the Lapland region. Ollikainen's core business is holiday home construction, so its own Lapland collection was a natural extension of our other activities, says CEO Tero Ollikainen.
Tero Ollikainen has strong faith in the future and growth in construction.
The collection is based on a strong belief in the future, Finnish holiday home construction, and the fact that new types of design can be implemented reliably, accurately, and in a way that is suitable for the demanding conditions of Lapland.
The Lapland landscape as a starting point for design
The Lappi collection is not a collection of ordinary cottages or houses. It is based on the unique nature, landscape, and atmosphere of Lapland.
"The aim was to create a collection that would suit the Finnish fells. We wanted buildings that genuinely reflected the authenticity and closeness to nature of Lapland, not just on the surface," says Teemu Ijäs, Ollikainen's sales representative for the Lapland region .
Teemu Ijäs describes the Lapland landscape as the starting point for his design.
The collection's design makes use of frameless windows, large openings, and maximum visibility of the landscape—while also being designed to be customizable. Each model is tailored to the customer's needs, the shape of the plot, the direction of the wind, and the landscape. The size of the building, floor plan, window openings, and intended use of the spaces can be easily modified during the design phase. This is particularly important in Lapland, where the landscape sets its own requirements for design.
Versatile collection and individual design
The Lappi collection has been designed to meet the diverse needs and plot types of Lapland. The collection includes
individual log cabins
semi-detached houses, which are now increasingly being built in mountainous areas
Basement models for both semi-detached houses and detached houses
attractive northern lights cabins, ideal for tourist use

Many customers find a suitable starting point directly from the collection. For others, however, the best solution is a completely customized architectural design, in which the villa is designed from scratch according to the plot and their wishes.
"Our collection and custom designs are not mutually exclusive. Customers can start with a model or begin with a completely blank slate," Ijäs explains.
A ready-to-move-in cottage is an easy way to build in the north
Construction in Lapland requires experience and comprehensive management skills. That is why Ollikainen also offers ready-to-move-in solutions in the Lapland region.
Ready to move in means that the cottage is designed, built, and finished ready for occupancy. For the customer, this means clarity, schedule management, and a worry-free project, especially when the construction site is located far from their everyday life.
Local expertise in Lapland
Teemu Ijäst is particularly inspired by the unique atmosphere of Lapland.
– Lapland has something unique about it. The landscapes are indescribably beautiful, and this is also reflected in the types of homes and vacation homes that people want to build there.
Extensive experience and local understanding help ensure that the Lappi collection meets both customer expectations and environmental requirements.
Ollikainen also offers pre-marketing properties, where customers can participate in the design process.
