Factory hall extension
Investment provides a solid foundation for the future
Ollikainen Hirsirakenne celebrates 50 years - EUR 3 million investment doubles production in Ruovede
Founded in 1974, Ollikainen Hirsirakenne Oy celebrated its 50th anniversary last year and is looking strongly to the future. The company is building a new production line in Ruovede, which will double its production capacity by 2026. The total value of the investment is €3 million, of which the European Union will contribute €300 000.
- This investment will enable more efficient production and meet the growing demand in both the domestic and export markets," says Tero Ollikainen, CEO.
Growth even in challenging times
Although the construction industry has faced challenges in recent years, Ollikainen Hirsirakenne has continued to grow. In 2024, turnover increased by more than 50% compared to the previous year, and the order book for the coming months is already secured.
In recent years, we have completed several major school and kindergarten projects across Finland, such as the Ikur kindergarten in Tampere and the Vaaralampi school in Rovaniemi - the largest log school in Finland. Among other things, the Saikka school in the Lempäälä housing fair area is currently under construction.
- In recent years, many municipalities have been encouraged to build public buildings in logs. In addition to schools and kindergartens, we are increasingly seeing commercial premises, municipal buildings and even a parsonage built of logs," says Ollikainen.
New jobs and skills for Ruovede
The investment is estimated to create 5-10 new jobs. Some of the new workers have already started training, and the new production line is expected to be operational in early 2026.
The gables of the Hall extension were celebrated on 12 August. The event was attended by Toni Leppänen, Mayor of Ruovesi Municipality, and Arto Satonen (MP).
